Everyone keeps asking am I ready? Almost there. Most of the major things are taken care of like the motorcycle and some of the minor things like laundry. I have enjoyed a wonderful weekend with family and friends. There are many different reactions and all are accompanied with loving support.
After reading the latest Malawi updates from Anna Ebert, I am overwhelmed at how different life is for girls in the remote villages she travels to and I recognize the incredible privileges and freedoms available here in Canada. I will be travelling a greater distance than ever before on my motorcycle in areas new to me; however, the roads I will be travelling on are far more than ox cart paths and not remote in comparison. Technology will (hopefully) allow me to maintain contact with everyone throughout the tour and I too shall meet some amazing people.
Circumstances and cultures differ but as girls and women, our needs physically, psychologically and socially remain the same. Inspired when I think about Anna’s work and Rachel Starkey’s vision and desire to make a difference through Transformation Textiles, I know that together we can make a difference and help remove some of the barriers and aid in changing the future.
It is humbling as I witness things coming together allowing me to fulfill this dream. I look forward to sharing with you in the days ahead as the adventure unfolds.
By the way, as I watch the light show and listen to the thunder and rain, I am praying that I don’t encounter any weather like this while I’m on the road.

Hi Marcy,
What an exciting time. You’re going to have a wonderful adventure! Looking forward to meeting you on your way through Ontario.
In the mean time, will follow you vicariously. 🙂
Best,
Liz
PS Pack your rain gear. Just in case. 🙂
Thanks Liz. The new (and as yet untested) rain gear is packed and hopefully remains that way.
Looking forward to meeting up and riding with you.
Rolling on,
Marcy
Hi Marcy!
I am so excited for you to be chasing this dream. I pray it brings you much fulfillment as you proceed into the adventure ahead.
I also want to say I am praying that you will be safe during any “rainy” weather, as I’ve other friends that have commented on their thankfulness that the Lord brought them through rough times on the road during thunderstorms and how the rain affects the highway when riding a bike. Please take care when riding in wet weather!
Have fun! I am eager to hear your report when you get back! 😉
Thanks Faye. Believing for dry pavement as I head east. Yesterday was hot and windy and I was grateful to park and get out of my riding gear at the end of the day. Thanks for coming on the journey with me.
